I don't have one currently, but I have had them in the past. They are very friendly and affectionate, but they only live about 5 years.
If you get one for a pet, a female is best, because they are more gentle than the males and don't smell bad.
Guinea pigs can't make their own Vitamin C like most animals, so you need to make sure they get that in their diet by giving them a few fresh veggies and fruits.
