Sorry it took me so long to respond... I've been quite busy!! Here in Canada it also takes a minimum of 6 years to become a vet, although most people have more schooling than that. The first 2 years are in an undergraduate program (usually animal science or biology) before you can even apply. Then, once you actually get into vet school (which is quite difficult as there are very few spaces and many applicants), it is an additional 4 years. There is a shortage of veterinarians in Canada, so virtually no vet is without a job. It is a lot of hard work for less pay than we deserve, but the rewards that come with the job are worth it. I love every day of it and can't imagine myself doing anything else.
