I have had cats with my parrots for a long time. Actually unless your cat will have front claws it is not much of a match for the parrot in the first place. Even an Amazon can dismember a cat that does not keep his paws at a safe distance. We had a cat that thought he was going to imtimidate one of my cockatoos like he did with all the other rodent pets my kids had. I had two birds at the time a goffin male cockatoo named Phoenix and an umbrella cockatoo named cuddles. Cuddles was a large bird while Phoenix is about the size of an Amazon. The cat was laying on the Cuddles cage just flicking his tail about with out a care while Cuddles was trying to peer out of his cage to see where the cat was. Phoenix was out of his cage and on top of it. The two cages were side by side in my living room. Every time the cat looked away Phoenix would move a bit closer to Cuddles cage. Finally at a close enough distance, when the cat looked away the bird lunged and bit the cats tail. The cat jumped up screamed and ran and hid never to bother the birds or their cages again.
