In general, I would not advise anyone take in an injured wild animal (ie, birds) to try and save it. First of all, many baby birds that appeared injured/are alone may actually just be learning to fly, and by interfering you are preventing normal behaviour. Second, it is illegal to keep wild animals as pets. If it is a domesticated animal (ie, a hurt kitten), bring it to your local veterinarian/SPCA who will take care of it and put it up for adoption provided it is economically feasible. If you see injured wildlife and are sure that they truly need human intervention, call your local wildlife authority who will take the animal to a rehabilitation center.
