I had 2 Ferrets. They are very friendly and fun pets to have! You are supposed to be able to train them to do quite a few things. They do like to go potty in corners, so training them when they were out of the cage was simple to do. Make sure you have plenty of time home so that you can leave them out of the cage for a couple of hours.
Mine never came when called - they were basically off in their own little world running around, exploring, and playing. Life expectancy is supposed to be around 7 years. My ferret Chompers only lived to be about 4.5 years old.
My other Ferret, Casey, is still alive and is almost 5 years old, but she is living with my mom because I had moved into a place where I wasn't allowed to have pets and when we finally got our own property mom had grown really attached so I let her have her.
I also found that my Ferret was happier when he had another Ferret to play with.
