My cats chew everything!
Does anyone know of a solution for a cat that will chew anything? And I mean anything! Phone cords, electric cords, paper, shoe strings, etc. Very destructive, so I'd like to know if anyone out there has had any success weaning their cat away from this. My cats were born feral, and I got them at a rescue center. They are mostly tame now but one of them just won't stop chewing on things!

That is a very good question and I would have to say that I am not sure how to handle that. I had some pretty wild ones in the past and cannot really answer this question but would like to see what others have to say as well.

I have an answer^^, our kittens used to do the same thing so I went to the pet store and the salesman gave me something they can chew on wich they prefer (it's a kind of pole). Now that my cats have grown up and have been castrated, they don't chew on anything anymore.

We give them cat toys and scratching posts. I even got some dog chew toys, which they do chew on...but it doesn't stop the destruction! LOL...I just don't know what to do! We have tried putting menthol on stuff, but that is just so messy!

Its in cats nature to chew, and scratch on things. The best thing to do is buy them a few toys that they can chase, scratch, and tug on. My cat enjoys tearing into the trash and dragging it around the apartment. But thats just part of having an indoor cat.

You can buy a spray on product at the pet store that tastes very bitter when your cat starts to chew on anything you spray it on. It will not harm you cat just prevent it from chewing. Soon your cat will not even attempt to chew on anything if the cat even smells the product.

My cat chews on wood.. not sure why.. I finaly decided that maybe she has a sore tooth or something and the pressure that comes from it feels good? I bought these kitten teething things you can put in the freezer and it numbs their sore spot. you should check that out maybe.. I also bought her a doggie chew toy, lol

The best to avoid this problem is that you move to a pet shop take few tips from the person there and get hold of chewing toys and scratching pole. They do have certain traits that need to be taken care of.

hi there
i think you never punish your cat.just like kids if you wont make them realize that they are doing something wrong, they will get habitual of that.so try to give her some mild punishment.
