Does anyone here have a Great Dane?

I've always wanted one and finally got one 2 years ago. He is like my best friend. He is so gentle, it's unbelievable! It drives me crazy when I get the "looks" from people when I tell them I have a child and a Great Dane.. they look at me like I'm crazy. I get pretty insulted because he is so protective over her and would never do anything to hurt her or anyone else.

I remember having a great dane when I was a kid. I was real young, because I remember being able to ride him. His name was Duke!

That is funny, because when I was a small child we had a great dane named Duke as well. My mother told me that I would nap between his front legs while he was laying and they are very protective of the family they are with.
