Types of exotic animals that are allowed as pets
Can anyone tell me the types of exotic animals that are allowed as pets? or does this depend on the place you live and what they allow. Who would someone contact to find out which animals are allowed as pets.

attagirl,
You'll need to consult your city or town bylaw on matters of exotic pets. Call city hall and ask about owning exotic pets and where to find the list of "approved" pets.
If you ever own a pet that is banned in that area, they can take it away and fine you, depending on the type of animal.

Be careful to make sure you are alowed to adopt the exotic animal and that you will have enough time and money to take care for it.
Also some exotic animals are considered dangerous (crocodiles, aligators, snakes...) and you need a licence for them.
If you are interested in exotic birds (like parotes for example)
Remember that they live over 100 years.
Another thing, you don't need a licence or permission for exotic lizards.

It all depends on what you classify as exotic. Some pet's like crocodiles, snakes, etc. have to have a license for owning in certain places. There are exotic pets out there though that don't require licenses but do require dire need of maintenance i.e. ferrets.

Never thought of that. What some people might consider exotic, may not be by others. Good point!
So would you need to get city licensing on these pets as well. Kind of like when getting a dog license.

I wish I could have a Kiwi as a pet that would just be the coolest thing ever! But they are kind of low in numbers. But if there wwas a chance we could ever have one that would be really neat.

answering ur request
Well it deffinenty depends on where u live. so if u live in a little house ur best bet on having an exotic pet is having a parrot. But if u live out in the county u could probly have exotic deer like Axsis or some other kinds... But u probly whouldnt want a panda of something big like that. It whould be unfair to the animal. And it whould be hard work
love,

I've always wanted a pet Lynx, but I don't think there is a government in the World that will allow it.
Oh well, Lindsey has the next best thing: A cat that looks like a Lynx and is named Lynx!
