Default Emotional Ties?

I grew up on a farm and got so attached to the animals that it broke my heart when a cow or pig was sold. My husband wanted us to have a hobby farm, but I said I'd never be able to eat a chicken if I raised it. Do you get attached to your farm animals, and if so, how do you deal with selling them?

I don't think I could eat an animal that I raised either because I would get too emotionally attached. They say you should think of your animals that you raise for food as not being your pet... but I am sure that I would think of them as being my pet.

I think that when you have a farm you have to look at this as food not as pets. So for those that were raised on a farm they have a different approach to it as lets say we would not being around it all our lives. I could not eat something I raised either.
