Default Breeding

Has anyone ever successfully bred their fish or wanted to breed their fish?

We ended up bringing home a pregnant Molly, not knowing it, and had some baby mollies after a couple of weeks, but because we weren't prepared and didn't know and it was too late at night to get anything to seperate the fish, when we woke up they were all gone...the other fish ate them. I was actually pretty upset about it. That was the first and last time we had babies.

I've always wanted to breed guppies, but I was never successful at it. Maybe when I start my aquarium back up again I'll give it a shot.

Thats very sad that all the babies were eaten but that dose not mean that you should give up , yes it hurts when it happens but next time you can be carefully . Give it one more try .

Dudes please guppy's,molly's and xipho's are the most easy kind of fishes to breed. These kinds of fishes eat there own babies because they confuse them to there natural food. You must create some places for them to hide, like many ground plants and surface plants, some pieces of logs that you buy from a pet shop.

Nice sweet info but are you sure this solves the problem. If it is really so I am again going to develop my aquarium, which is lying like that after I lost my cute little fish.

I had guppy's, Molly's and Xipho's for since i remember i have had a aquarium. I had like millions Baby guppy, Molly and Xipho because a female can do between 10-100 baby's depends on the size of the female. Just create places for the babies to hide when they are born especially more plants. When the babies are born they are like a little ball that opens and swim fast down in the rubble so if they don't have a place to hide like many ground plants to hide in they are lunch for the other fishes.
