Default First World Rabies Day

Did anyone else hear about this? I didn't until I was reading the news a few minutes ago. Today was the first World Rabies Day, and 45 countries acknowledged it.

The CDC also said today that the US is now officially free of Canine rabies (which I have a hard time believing).

Here is a link to the press release on the CDC website:

This was the first mentioning I have heard of this. I do highly doubt that Canine rabies is eliminated. I used to live in Virginia and you hear a lot about rabid animals. But it would be a nice thing knowing you would not need a rabies shot ever again.

It is about time that we have started working together on something that can be positive not only to the animals of the world but shows that we can work together to improve the world and everything in it.

Hi there!

I agree with you. I think that it is not easy to totally eliminate canine rabies. Maybe it can be decreased. In one of the States in our country, they use guns to kill street dogs to reduce the case of rabies. But I really think it's very immoral.. What do you guys think?
