If you want to be an equine vet, make sure you have good grades thru High School.

Apply to all kinds of vet schools - I live in MI, so the one near here is Michinan State University. I've seen vet tech school ads for Colorado, but you really want to get into a vet school, so get good grades, study hard, and best of luck to you!

I'm pretty sure you need to take a standard vet program, then go into your speciality. It'd be pretty silly if you were an equine vet and didn't know how to fix a dog's broken leg, right? Good luck!

to get into vet school you have to go through undergrad (get your bachelors of science, art, whatever) then you have to apply to vet schools. There are 27 vet schools in the US. So not every state has them. Also you need to have at least 300 hours working with animals and a veterinarian. One of the best ways to do this is to go volunteer at a vet's office. Many will allow you to do this and then you can learn if you really want to do this. Vet school is HARD you really need to think about this and if you really want to do it. If you go to the AVMA website, it has some info on all the vet schools in the US. It also has links to other sites.

The only school that I am aware of that has a vet school is the one by me in FL - The University of Florida (UF). It's going to take atleast eight years of schooling to get to be a vet.

Definatly get your grades up. It's very competitive out there. Aim for a perfect 4.0 GPA. Also take lots of math and science. Don't know if you're in high school or college, but try to take either honors or AP classes. Take math all the way up to calculus, and lots of science. Chem I&II, Bio I&II, Organic I&II, and physics. Also take stastics. Also try to volunteer. Do anything volunteer like that gets you hands on with the animals: Stable work, volunteer with a vet, at the SPCA. Also, if your school offers any clubs, join them. Extracurricular activities look good on a resume.

If one has an inclined mind then only one should opt for this kind of profession. One of friends joined degree course for vets, but he budged out in between. He ruined his career. So if you really want to be vet only then go ahead.
