Default Help!

I would like to own a Ferret and I would like some personal advice on how much they cost, if they are good as pets, do they respond to your call, do they live long...
Can anyone help me?

I have known people with farrets as pets and they were very friendly and did respond when called too. Now I am not sure if they were trained to do that, and am not sure on costs but they have been good pets. They have had theirs about 10 years now.

I had 2 Ferrets. They are very friendly and fun pets to have! You are supposed to be able to train them to do quite a few things. They do like to go potty in corners, so training them when they were out of the cage was simple to do. Make sure you have plenty of time home so that you can leave them out of the cage for a couple of hours.

Mine never came when called - they were basically off in their own little world running around, exploring, and playing. Life expectancy is supposed to be around 7 years. My ferret Chompers only lived to be about 4.5 years old.

My other Ferret, Casey, is still alive and is almost 5 years old, but she is living with my mom because I had moved into a place where I wasn't allowed to have pets and when we finally got our own property mom had grown really attached so I let her have her.

I also found that my Ferret was happier when he had another Ferret to play with.

Oh - and about the cost... my ferrets were around $130 a piece.

Then you have to consider the cost of the cage, which can be quite expensive depending on what you get into - they need a decent sized cage, especially if they are going to spend a lot of time in there while you are at work.

They like to sleep in the little hammocks, which are around $15 to $20 as well.

Then mine would only eat the food that they were raised on - they wouldn't touch anything else - I think they would rather have starved themselves than touch anything other than the Marshall food, which ran about $25 in our pet stores for a bag...or a little carton for around $10.

All-in-all really, really good pets to have. Really entertaining.

My friend had a ferret growing up and she loved it. She even bought a leash and took it out for walks and kept it in a huge two-story cage. I think she paid $100 for the ferret and about double that for the cage. It lived for about 6 years before it died.

I used to have some ferrets. That was several years ago and I recall they were about $100 each.

They are affectionate and fun. Some people let them run loose all the time, but I don't recommend that. They get into all sorts of trouble. It's better to keep them in a cage and take them out several times a day to play with them.

Feed them specially formulated ferret food, or very high quality cat food.
